but otherwse, a fine stop for dinner in Newark. NOT a place to bring a hot date, a business client or your prissy Aunt Edwina. Great food, a terrific price and a warm welcome. Familiar with all those bogus "just ordinary folks enjoying a good time together" commercials by Olive Garden? Well, this place actually delivers that atmosphere - for real. But think of it as your favorite Uncle Guillermo - the feeling we got on a recent visit was like being welcomed to a favorite uncle's home. The lighting is bright, there's plenty of noise and the decor is pretty much Uncle Guillermo's basement. Again, this is NOT upper-crust in any way whatsoever - it is informal even by diner standards. Superb Brazilian quasi-buffet - some vegetables and fish dishes on a traditional buffet table, but the best & freshest offerings are at the carving station. Still, this is a terrific find in Newark. The tables are bare, the beer and wine are "bring your own" (but no corkage fee!), and everyone dresses very casually.
